Strike launched a pilot integration with Clover, allowing merchants to accept Bitcoin over the Lightning Network. Instead, merchants can accept Lightning payments from any source — “From Cash App up to a node on Tor.” Mallers stated that merchants will be able to accept Lightning payments from any source — “From Cash App to a node over Tor.” Mallers clarified that this rollout is part a 90-day trial period which will measure the speed and cost of the new integration. Merchants will also be closely monitored to see how much Lightning integration brings in business. Strike plans to enter Clover’s app store and then integrate directly into Clover after the pilot. This would make Lightning available by default to all Clover merchants, making it right next door to card networks like MasterCard and Visa. Mallers stated on Twitter that “Ultimately, these payment titans want to see Lightning live.” They want to touch it, feel it, and watch people use it. It seems too good to true that an open, instant, affordable, inclusive, and innovative payment network can be created. Lightning is the world’s best payments rail. “The trial period is now active and Clover merchants can reach out to Strike in order to enable cheaper, faster payments using the Bitcoin Lightning Network.Tagsterms:StrikeBusinessesMerchantsLightning
