DC-Based Coffee Company Launches Bitcoin Blend In Honor Of El Salvadoran Farmers

According to a release sent out to Bitcoin Magazine, the limited-edition run will donate part of the tin sales to support the El Salvadorian coffee farmers. The company hosted a conference with panel discussion on Bitcoin, El Salvador, which featured Milena Mayorga, the Ambassador of El Salvador to America. Mayorga said, “Today we are very excited to announce our new Bitcoin Blend, made with Salvadoran coffee grown from the Santa Ana region.” Compass Coffee created it in honor of the 1st anniversary of Salvador’s adoption of bitcoin. The blend includes ingredients from Salvadoran Farms. A portion of the profits from sales will go to support the fast-growing coffee sector in El Salvador. “For us, the most exciting thing about bitcoin is its potential to connect directly to everyone in the coffee value chains – from the grower to the person running the coffee mill to the truck driver to the exporter,” stated Max Deem (VP of operations at Compass Coffee). Compass believes that Bitcoin empowers local entrepreneurs in the region. While Bitcoin and coffee may not seem like a natural partnership to some, Compass Coffee’s leadership believes it is. “Using bitcoin to pay our international coffee partners allows us to cut out a lot more costs – wire transfer fees, and that kind of thing – and put more worth directly into the hands that actually make it possible to roast coffee and do what they do every day,” stated Chas Newman of Compass Coffee’s sourcing and production. It already accepts bitcoin payments on its online store. Tagsterms:el salvadorCompass CoffeeBitcoin Blend
