A Suggestion for the Sats Symbol

The Bitcoin community has yet agree on a universal symbol that will represent sats, which is the smallest part of bitcoin. But I think I might be the winner. This is an opinion editorial written by Arman The Paraman, a Bitcoin educator who is passionate about privacy. Bitcoininers are having difficulty choosing a universal symbol for sats. SourceI believe I have found a symbol that we can all agree on. It seems obvious in hindsight. Wait until you hear the symbolism and reasoning before making a decision. Here’s what I propose: The symbol is made with a reverse S, which is similar to writing a “2”, but not quite, and a vertical strikethrough which is similar to a “1”. The 21 million bitcoin hard supply cap is also represented by the number two and one. The sat symbol. It is poetically beautiful, in my opinion. Alternatively, it’s a horizontally-reversed dollar sign (it can’t be both, otherwise it would end up flipping back to the dollar sign). One of the most important things about the symbol is that there’s a reasonable chance that most people will naturally agree to use it. Others have suggested that it contains elements of Knut Svanholm’s “infinity” divided by 21 million meme:Source It also contains elements of Knut’s “infinity” divided into 21 million memes. SourceAn actual “2”, which would have been a better choice, was suggested. However, this can make it look messy and less likely to receive as much support as the inverted dollar sign. It doesn’t look good to me. It takes only two strokes to write. It only takes two strokes to lift the pen. You only need to lift the pen once. It would be a great pleasure to write it every time, at least for me. There are many reasons this symbol is good. I think we can settle on one. This is Arman The Parman’s guest post.
